Which Stores Sold Recalled Baby Formula?

Walmart, Target, Costco, Kroger, Winn Dixie Giant Eagle, Walgreens, CVS, Hannaford, Wegmans,  Giant, and  Schnucks are among the stores that sold powdered infant formula, from November 1, 2020, to  February 17, 2022, that has been recalled in connection with four illnesses and two deaths.

On February 17, 2022, Abbott Nutrition issued a recall for Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare after reports of  Cronobacter and Salmonella illnesses among infants who consumed them. The recall was expanded 11 days later to include a specific lot of the specialty formula Similac 60/40.

The recalled Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare powdered infant formula was produced at Abbott’s facility in Sturgis, Michigan. Products included in the recall have all three identifiers in the product code on the bottom of the container:

  • The first two digits of the number will start with the numbers 22 through 37.
  • The code contains K8, SH, or Z2.
  • The product has an expiration date of April 1, 2022, or after.

The recalled Similac 60/40 has the lot code 27032K800.

  • On February 28, 2022, Abbott Nutrition expanded the recall to include a specialty formula called Similac PM 60/40 with the lot code 27032K800.
