A Signature Select brand frozen avocado chunks sold at Albertsons, Safeway and other stores are being recalled for potential Listeria contamination. The recall, issued June 18, 2019, by Nature’s Touch Foods Inc., includes products with a “best before” dates of Oct 11, 20.

The recall was issued after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found Listeria in a sample of the product during routine testing.  No illnesses had been reported at the time of this recall, but consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness.

Symptoms of a Listeria infection include fever, headache, muscle aches or stiffness, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

The recalled product was sold in 12 0z packages with the UPC 2113009412 and “best before” dates of Oct 11, 20. The recalled product was sold at Albertsons, Safeway, Safeway Community Markets, Carrs-Safeway, Eagle, Lucky, Pak N Save, Pavillions, and Vons stores in the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, Texas and Utah.
