A major onion recall linked to a Salmonella outbreak includes some HelloFresh meals. HelloFresh has issued a recall for some meals containing onions because ProSource, which has issued an onion recall, is one of its suppliers. The recall includes all onions in meal kits produced from July 7, 2021, to September 8, 2021. Meal kits that were produced after September 8, 2021, are not affected by this recall.
HelloFresh customers should check product codes, located on the bottom square of the box shipping label to see if meals they have received are included in this recall. Product codes are circled in red in the photo below.
The recalled HelloFresh meals were produced on weeks beginning July 7, 2021, through September 1, 2021. The HelloFresh product codes for the meals containing recalled onions are:

Onion Salmonella Outbreak
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection, which usually develop within six to 72 hours of eating contaminated food, include nausea, fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea that is sometimes bloody.
More than 600 people have been sickened in this outbreak. The patients, who range in age from less than 1 year old to 97 years old, said their illnesses first began on dates ranging from May 31, 2021, to September 30, 2021.
Illnesses have been reported from 37 states. The number of illnesses reported from each state is: Alabama (3), Arkansas (12), California (9), Colorado (1), Connecticut (4), Florida (5), Georgia (2), Illinois (37), Indiana (1), Iowa (3), Kansas (14), Kentucky (9), Louisiana (5), Maryland (48), Massachusetts (12), Michigan (9), Minnesota (23), Mississippi (2), Missouri (21), Nebraska (8), New Jersey (5), New Mexico (8), New York (12), North Carolina (14), North Dakota (4), Ohio (7), Oklahoma (98), Oregon (2), Pennsylvania (7), South Carolina (3), South Dakota (8), Tennessee (10), Texas (158), Utah (3), Virginia (59), West Virginia (1), and Wisconsin (25).
