A Salmonella outbreak at NéktƏr Juice Bar in Woodbury has sickened nine people, two of whom have been hospitalized, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
The people sickened in this outbreak, who range in age from 20 to 82, reported the onset of symptoms on dates ranging from August 27 to September 21. All of them live in counties in the East Metro area.
Minnesota health officials say they have not yet identified the food that is the source of the outbreak, that it’s likely others were sickened and that their investigation is ongoing. During interviews, patients reported consuming a variety of foods including juices, smoothies and bowls.
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection, which include fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, usually develop within six to 72 hours of exposure and last about a week. Anyone who ate at the restaurant and is experiencing these symptoms should contact their doctor and mention exposure to Salmonella.
Health officials said the restaurant has cleaned, sanitized and restocked ingredients.
