A recall for bagged salad made by Fresh Express and sold under the Hy-Vee brand name has expanded to include 13 products. All of the salads included in this recall contain iceberg lettuce, carrots and red cabbage.
Other stores recalling private label salads made by Fresh Express include ALDI, Jewel-Osco, Walmart, ShopRite and Giant Eagle. Fresh Express brand salads are also included in the recall.
Cyclospora is a parasite that can cause serious illness which, if untreated, can last for weeks or months. Symptoms of an infection include diarrhea that is watery and explosive, cramping, bloating, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, fever and other flu-like symptoms.
A multistate Cyclospora outbreak linked to bagged salads made by Fresh Express has grown to include 206 illnesses. Twenty-three people have been hospitalized.

Hy-Vee Bagged Salad Cyclospora Recall
On June 22, 2020, Hy-Vee issued a Cyclospora recall for Hy-Vee Garden Salad made by Fresh Express sold in 12 oz. packages at Hy-Vee grocery stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
On June 27, 2020, Fresh Express expanded the recall of products possibly contaminated with Cyclospora to include all products made at its Streamwood, IL facility that contain iceberg lettuce, carrots and red cabbage. This triggered an expansion of the Hy-Vee recall. The following 13 products, sold at Hy-Vee stores in The products were distributed to Hy-Vee grocery stores across its eight-state region of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin, are now included in the Hy-Vee recall:
