Cyclospora lawyer- Garden salad Recall

UPDATED JULY 3, 2020- Update reflects a product code correction posted by Albertson’s on July 2, 2020 and updated Cyclospora outbreak case numbers. Jewel-Osco is recalling Signature Farms Garden Salad in connection with a six-state bagged salad Cyclospora outbreak that has sickened more than 70 people. These salads were produced by Fresh Express and also sold under store brand names at Hy-Vee and ALDI. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them.

Albertsons Companies Inc. purchased Jewel-Osco from SUPERVALU Inc. in 2013 and operates 188 stores in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. The recalled Signature Farms Garden Salad was sold in 12-ounce bags in the produce section of these stores. The recalled products have “BEST IF USED BY” dates of May 16 through July 4  or (5-16-20 through 7-04-20) printed on the top right corner of the front of the package. The recalled bagged salad product has a UPC code of 21130 98135 on the back of the package and the unique plant number S5424.

So far, this outbreak includes cases in eight states: Iowa (74), Illinois (57), Kansas (1), Minnesota (25), Missouri (10), Nebraska (20), North Dakota (6) and Wisconsin (13).
Cyclospora lawyer- Garden salad Recall

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported that clusters of illnesses in this outbreak have been associated with Jewel-Osco Signature Farms Garden Salad,  Hy-Vee Brand Garden Salad sold at Hy-Vee stores and Little Salad Bar Brand Garden Salad sold at ALDI.

The case-patients, who range in age from 16 to 92 years old,  reported onset of symptoms on dates ranging from May 11, 2020 to June 14, 2020 after eating bagged salads they had purchased from grocery stores.  Sixteen people have been hospitalized.
