Advent calendars sold at LIDL stores have been recalled because the chocolate candies with creamy fillings also contain Salmonella. The recalled advent calendars, sold under the brand named Favorina between October 12, 2022, and December 5, 2022, have the following product information:

  • 8.4-oz size
  • barcode number 4056489516965
  • “best if used by year” of 2023

LIDL discovered the problem during routine product testing.

Lidl US has announced a voluntary recall for the 8.4 oz Favorina branded Advent Calendar (Premium Chocolate with a Creamy Filling) due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Symptoms of a Salmonella infection include nausea, fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea that can be bloody. These symptoms usually develop within six to 72 hours of exposure. Anyone who ate the candy and developed these symptoms should see a doctor and mention exposure to Salmonella.
