Nuts ‘N More brand peanut spread has been recalled for potential Listeria contamination. At the time of the recall, the company was not aware of reports of illness.

Nuts ‘N More Plain Peanut Spread was distributed to retail locations in AL, AZ, FL, IN, MA, ME, RI, VA and in  Canada and the UK. The recalled product was sold in 16 oz plastic jars marked on the lid with the lot number LOT PB91 and expiration date EXP 03/04/2021.

The company issued the recall after it was alerted that routine testing on a finished product by a third party was positive for Listeria. The company has stopped producing and distributing the product while Rhode Island health officials conduct an investigation.

Nut butters, seed butters and tahini products are often associated with food poisoning recalls and outbreaks. That’s because contamination can occur when bacteria such as Listeria, E. coli or Salmonella makes its way into the product after the nuts and seeds have been roasted.
