Mrs. Stratton’s Salads Inc. has issued a recall for chicken salad and tuna salad products for potential contamination with Listeria. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause illness and death. The full list of recalled products is posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) website.
In its announcement of the recall, the Birmingham, AL based-company stated that no illnesses had been reported and that it initiated the recall after being notified of a Listeria recall by its chicken supplier, Tip Top Poultry, Inc.
Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, intense headache, muscle aches, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
Anyone who has eaten these products and experiences these symptoms should see a doctor.
