Chicken salad sandwiches and croissants sold under the brand names Lunch Box and Fresh and Local are being recalled for potential Listeria contamination. Grand Strand Sandwich Co. of Longs, SC issued the recall October, 4 after being notified by Mrs. Stratton’s Salads Inc. of Birmingham, AL, that its supplier of cooked chicken, Tip Top Poultry Inc. was recalling cooked chicken for potential Listeria conamination.
The recalled products were distributed through October 2 and sold at convenience stores and vending machines in North and South Carolina.
Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, headache, muscle aches, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. Anyone who has eaten these products and develops these symptoms should see a doctor.
