A Listeria recall includes ham and pepperoni sold at Whole Foods, Big Y, Piggly Wiggly, ShopRite, and the Albertsons family of stores including Safeway, Vons, Shaw’s, and more.  The recall includes 2.3 million pounds of products including boneless ham, honey-glazed spiral ham, wood-smoked semi-boneless ham, ham steak, and pepperoni. Consumers who have recently purchased ham or pepperoni should check recall information carefully as Listeria can cause serious illness and death.

On December 5, 2021, Alexander & Hornung of  St. Clair Shores, MI issued a Listeria recall for ham and pepperoni products sold under nine brands names. On December 11, 2021, the company expanded the recall to include a total of 27 products sold under 12 brand names: Wellshire, Alexander & Hornung, Food Club, Butcher Boy, Niman Ranch, Garrett Valley Farms, Open Nature, Amish Country, Amish Valley, Lancaster, Five Star, and Big Y. The products included in this recall bear establishment number “EST. M10125” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

On December 17, 2021 the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS) website published a retail distribution list for this recall. Retailers that sold these products nationwide or area-wide were ACME Markets, Albertsons, Big Y Stores, Piggly Wiggly, Safeway,  Shaw’s,  ShopRite, Star Market, and Whole Foods.  The list also includes specific stores affected by the recall in 36 states and Washington DC.
