Vegetable Listeria RecallGreen Giant and Trader Joe’s brand vegetables sold at Food Lion, Shaws and other stores are being recalled for Listeria risk. No illnesses were reported at the time Grower’s Express issued the recall for fresh vegetables including cauliflower, squash and zucchini products. Stores that sold the products include: Big Y Foods, Bozzutos, C&S, Food Lion, Four Seasons, Native Maine, Procacci, Ruby Robinson, Shaws, Stop & Shop and Trader Joe’s.

Grower’s Express issued the recall after being notified by the Massachusetts Department of Health had found Listeria in a sample it tested. The company temporarily stopped production to conduct a “deep sanitizing” process of its entire facility and equipment. The company will continue its testing process before resuming production.

Most of the recalled products are labeled with a “Best If Used By” Date of June 26 – June 29, 2019. No other Growers Express products are included in the recall.

Listeria can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections. Symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, muscle aches or muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
