A 33-state charcuterie Salmonella outbreak linked to Busetto brand charcuterie sold at Sam’s Club and Costco sickened seven people in Minnesota. The charcuterie trays, which included prosciutto, sweet soppressata, and dry coppa were made by Fratelli Beretta USA Inc. of Mount Olive, NJ.
The people included in this outbreak, which ended yesterday, ranged in age from 1 to 92 years old. They said they first developed symptoms of a Salmonella infection on dates ranging from November 20, 2023, to February 10, 2024. Twenty-seven of them were hospitalized.
The outbreak included 104 illnesses in 33 states: Arizona (2), California (2), Colorado (1), Connecticut (1), Delaware (1), Florida (6), Idaho (2), Illinois (1), Iowa (2), Kentucky (1), Louisiana (1) Maryland (4), Massachusetts (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (7), Missouri (2), Nebraska (3), New Hampshire (1), New Jersey (7), New York (12), North Dakota (1), Ohio (13), Oklahoma (1), Oregon (1), Pennsylvania (6), Tennessee (1), Texas (9), Utah (1) Vermont (1), Virginia (5), Washington (6), West Virginia (3) and Wisconsin (2).
Minnesota Charcuterie Salmonella
The outbreak included seven people in Minnesota. In 2021, Fratelli Beretta charcuterie trays were linked to a 17-state Salmonella outbreak that included two people in Minnesota. It triggered a 431-ton recall of uncured antipasto trays containing prosciutto, soppressata, Milano salami, and coppa.
