Salmonella Egg Outbreak Linked to Milo’s, Tony’s
A multistate Salmonella outbreak has been linked to eggs sold at Walmart and other stores under the band names Milo’s and Tony’s. At least 65 people have developed Salmonella infections, and 24 have been hospitalized.
The company has issued a recall for all carton sizes of eggs sold under the brand names Tony’s Fresh Market and Milo’s Poultry Farms.
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection, called salmonellosis, usually develop within six to 72 hours of exposure. They include:
- Fever
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal cramps
- Diarrhea that can be bloody
The people sickened in this outbreak range in age from 2 to 88 years old. They reported the onset of symptoms between May 23, 2024, and August 10, 2024. Nine states have reported illnesses included in this outbreak: CA (2), CO (1), IA (2), IL (11), MI (2), MN (3), UT (1), VA (1), and WI (42).
