A four-state sandwich wrap Listeria recall includes Rachael’s, Atlantis, and All Town brands. The Italian Style, Chicken Caesar, Turkey Club, and Buffalo Style wraps, produced from July 15, 2022, through July 20, 2022, were sold at retail locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled sandwich wraps should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage or stillbirth.
Rachael’s Food Corporation of Chicopee, MA issued a recall on July 30, for 2,246 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry wraps that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. Rachael’s issued the recall after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS) found Listeria in a product sample during a follow-up visit after it had previously found Listeria in a product sample during routine testing.
At the time of the recall, the company said that it was not aware of any illnesses. However, symptoms of a Listeria infection, which usually develop within one to 14 days of exposure, can take as long as 70 days to develop. These symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions
