Salmonella Outbreaks are Often Linked to Eggs

An ongoing Salmonella outbreak linked to eggs produced by Milo’s Poultry Farms is the latest in a recent string of such outbreaks. The outbreak, which has sickened 65 people in nine states, marks the fifth time since 2016 that eggs have been identified as the source of a Salmonella outbreak.

One of these, a 2019 outbreak linked to hard-boiled eggs produced by Almark Foods in Gainesville, GA, sickened eight people killing one of them. The other outbreaks were all linked to shell eggs.

In 2018,  the Gravel Ridge Farms egg Salmonella outbreak sickened 44 people in 11 states. Twelve of them were hospitalized.

Another 2018 Salmonella egg outbreak, linked to eggs produced by Rose Acre Farms,  sickened 45 people in 10 states. The outbreak triggered the recall of 200 million eggs which were sold under a variety of brand names.

In 2016, a three-state outbreak linked to shell eggs produced by Good Earth Egg Company of Bonne Terre, Missouri, sickened eight people.
