Listeria Recall for Peaches, Plums and Nectarines

Peaches Listeria Outbreak

A deadly Listeria outbreak has triggered a recall for peaches, nectarines, and plums sold at Sam’s Club and the Albertsons family of stores. The fruit should no longer be on store shelves, but symptoms of a Listeria infection can take as long as 70 days to develop so consumers who consumed the fruit should monitor themselves for symptoms. They include:

  • Headache, high fever, stiff neck, and other muscle aches
  • Loss of balance, confusion, or convulsions
  • Upset stomach or diarrhea
  • Pregnant women can suffer miscarriages or stillbirths even if they only experience flu-like symptoms

The recalled peaches, nectarines, and plums were sold individually and prepackaged in plastic bags at stores nationwide including:

  • Sam’s Club ( AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, SC, TX, and PR)
  • ACME
  • Albertsons
  • Balducci’s
  • Carrs
  • Eagle
  • Haggen
  • Kings Food Markets
  • Lucky
  • Pavilions
  • Safeway
  • Shaw’s
  • Star Market
  • Vons
