Kandy Cantaloupe Salmonella Recall at Walmart, Other Stores

A Salmonella recall for whole Kandy brand cantaloupes includes Walmart and other stores in 19 states and Washington DC.

After product tests conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) were positive for Salmonella, Eagle Produce LLC of Scottsdale, AZ issued the recall for 6,456 cases of cantaloupe on September 27.

The recalled melons were sold at Walmart and other stores from September 5 to September 16 in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington DC.

The UPC code for the recalled Kandy brand melon is 4050. The lot codes are:

Symptoms of a Salmonella Infection

Consumers who ate the recalled cantaloupe should monitor themselves for symptoms of a Salmonella infection which include nausea, abdominal cramps, fever, and diarrhea that can be bloody. Usually, these symptoms develop between six and 72 hours of exposure. At the time of the recall, the company said it was unaware of any illnesses.
