3rd Kandy Cantaloupe Salmonella Recall in 4 Years
For the third time in four years, Kandy cantaloupe, distributed by Eagle Produce, has been recalled for Salmonella.
On September 6, 2024, Eagle Produce of Scottsdale, AZ issued the cantaloupe recall after Michigan health officials conducting routine testing found Salmonella in a cantaloupe purchased from a store.
The recalled melon was distributed to Walmart and other stores between August 13 and August 17 in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. The Kandy cantaloupe Salmonella recall includes:
- Kandy brand whole cantaloupe melon
- UPC 4050
- Lot code 846468
This recall follows a 2023 Kandy cantaloupe recall at Walmart and a 2020 cantaloupe Salmonella recall for whole and cut melon sold at Meijer stores.
Symptoms of a Salmonella Infection
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection usually develop within six to 72 hours of exposure. They include:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal cramps
- Diarrhea that can be bloody
